(More customer reviews)I'm a beginner player and found this at an EXCELLENT price ($71).If you find it this cheap, don't wait, because after I purchased mine, it went back up to $150.I got the last one at that price.The blue initially was off-putting to me, but when I received it, it's actually not nearly as blue as it appears in the picture.It's actually a very nice metallic blue and the color is a bit darker than the picture shows.

If I had complaints it would be that the guitar didn't come with any documentation at all.The knobs are not labeled and I'll have to do some research/tinkering to see what is what.

Aside from that, the guitar is an excellent guitar for the price.I really wanted a Les Paul style guitar, but I couldn't pass the deal up.

Shipping was incredibly quick.Even with Super Saver Shipping, I received the guitar two days after I placed the order.

Washburn Idol Series WI45WHK Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)The guitar is underpriced (in the market overall) for it's value (although I think an ebony fretboard would be nice). Probably underpriced because Washburn is known for acoustic guitars, but everything I read/saw on the Idol line looked good, so I took a gamble.

Very high quality construction, you get a guitar of high quality for a very reasonable cost. Has a great finish on it, the fretboard inlays are unique and very nice. Grover tuners provide very stable tuning.

The humbuckers are fairly hot (I also have a Les Paul Studio Faded, and these are fairly close to those) - very easy to drive into distortion. (I find I usually play with volume down around 3 or 4 in order to keep the sound clean.)

There were two things I didn't like:

Comes with 9's for strings - I like 10's and might even go to 11's (but have that problem with every guitar except hollow/semi-hollows).

Has plastic knobs for volume/tone - I'm switching those out with metal. Again, have that problem with most guitars as well.

The neck plays very well, and (at least mine) came well adjusted on the action. Also have a Godin Exit 22 and the playability here is very comparable. Really nice fret sizing, and easy to get around the neck. There's a lot of internet chatter about the VCC system - I don't think it makes the tone knobs useless (as some claim), but I do think it reduces their effect. Still playing with volume/tone dialing, and switching among pickups, you can get some great range of sounds out of this thing.

I'm really happy with it, it's an impressive instrument (my 5th electric) and it still provides a unique sound that I'm not getting from the other 4. I wouldn't hesitate buying another Washburn electric, they're a great bargain, great value.

Blueridge BR-40CE Contemporary Dreadnaught Cutaway Guitar with Fishman Classic 4T Pickup Review

(More customer reviews)...and it is the acoustic/electric cutaway "cousin" of the Blueridge BR-40 Contemporary Dreadnaught Guitar.

I have seen/played this model prior to purchasing it; the quality & craftsmanship on this guitar are high-quality...and it rings like a bell, with or without amplification. Things like:
- a tight-grained solid spruce top
- a rosewood bridge
- a bone nut and saddle
- an East Indian rosewood fingerboard
- a carved mahogany neck with a dovetail neck joint
- mahogany back and sides
- vintage-style quality open-back tuners
are just some of the impressive details.

One downside: In the recent past, this model has been sold with the Saga Golden Gate hardshell case included (most online retailers sold it that way). Apparently this has changed, since the one I just received came without...which was a disappointment for 2 reasons:

- it's good protection for when the guitar is shipped (shipping w/o a case is rolling the dice in my experience)
- it provides ongoing protection (especially for humidity control) once in your home or when traveling.

There had previously been an image depicting the case along with the guitar, which has since been removed; Amazon still indicates a shipping weight of 25 pounds, which is what the guitar & case weigh together...but this must have been an oversight.

If a case had been included...as it has typically been in the past...I would have given it a 5-star rating, which I almost never do in my reviews.

I'd recommend using an included case or gig bag as a pre-requisite for any online guitar purchase, since UPS & Fed-X don't generally have the word "fragile" in their dictionaries.

(More customer reviews)Ok, how did I spend $200 on an electric acoustic, and get such an awesome deal?!! I've always been happy with Washburn, but this is ridiculous. I feel like I still owe them money! I compared this to a friend's $650Ibanez and the action and tone is exactly the same if not a bit better! WOW! The action isn't as comfortable as a Cort I tried at the same price, but the electronics are better and it rings out with tone-to-the-bone much better than the Cort. What's amazing is, I spent just about $40.00 less on a Fender Starcaster which was not electric and was of hideous quality of ridiculous proportions. Acoustically this guitar is a dream, and event though the action isn't "perfect", my hands don't hurt and I can kill every note. The real fun begins when I connect it to any of my amps, add some effects and am in total heaven. Don't pass up this deal. This is quality and fun, through-and-through!

Washburn D10 Series Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this guitar as an upgrade to an older, starter Washburn guitar that I absolutely loved, though I probably should have taken better care of it. When I ordered this new guitar I didn't expect anything more than another great Washburn guitar.

Holy crap, I opened the box only to find that it came in an awesome hard case! Nowhere on the page when I ordered did it say it came with a case. It's a very nice, Washburn hard case, with a sweet felt or something inside. That was a very pleasant surprise indeed.

Aside from the case, this guitar also has a great built in pickup. I had to play a show the night I got the guitar and it sounded great. I did replace the strings with some better ones. The strings it came with sounded okay, just a little light and weak, especially when the guitar was plugged into an amp. With some new strings it sounded and played great.

The pickup has a great built in tuner. I've heard others saying the guitar doesn't stay in tune very well, though I haven't had that experience. I have kept it in it's case when I'm not playing it and like I said I put new strings on.

Overall, the action on the guitar is great. So smooth and easy to play. The build quality is way better than a lot of guitars that are way more expensive. The sound of the guitar is very full and rich. The case was a bonus.
