(More customer reviews)I have been through a few guitars after I got back into playing several years ago. I got a Gibson Les Paul in a trade for an 74 MG Midget I had. I really liked it and actually bought another Gibson type guitar, an EPIPHONE Riveria P93, the head angles are the same. I saw the Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts and the Fender Strat he was playing. I had to try one so I got a Squire Affinity and really enjoyed the easy bending of notes. I was going to get a Fender Strat but saw an AD for Godin Guitars in PG Mag and read alot about them. I found this Godin SD22 on Amazon and the price was incredible, I bought it and have played nothing but it since. I want to get a GODIN Xtsa actually and spend a few more dollars. So that is my next purchase but for now I will be lovin thsi SD22.

Product Description:

The SD 22 combines the easy feel of a short scale with the added snap of a rock maple neck. The short scale reduces string tension, which provides easy string bending and augments the low frequency response. The compact feel of the neck and the diagonal radius carved into the body produces exceptional balance and comfort. In short, this guitar is fun to play, and lends itself to classic rock and R&B sounds.

Maple and Poplar Body

The SD 22 is constructed with a blend of two tonewoods. A center of silver leaf maple serves as an anchor for the neck and is flanked by poplar sidepieces, resulting in Godin's stated goal of making electrics that begin with a great acoustic sound. Solid body instruments may not produce much in the way of volume, but make no mistake, wood weight and density, type (and quality) of the neck/body attachment, type of bridge and nut material all have an impact on that final sound.

One Godin GHB1 humbucker and two Godin GS1 single-coil pickups, along with a five-way switch for serious tonal options.

Godin Exit 22 Solid Body Electric Guitar (Natural Mahogany MN) Review

(More customer reviews)I really love this guitar. Was a little cautious, since I hadn't played a Godin before. But, sought out a few local shops and they had some in stock (none had the Exit 22 though). Just to get the feel of the product line I checked those out and was happy with how they felt.

I like the unique and constrasting coloring of the guitar. Really like the metal knobs on the volume/tone (so much so I'm swapping out on some of my other guitars).

The neck plays very well, and like the maple on this model more than rosewood. Neck is a bolt on, and strings are through the body. The high frets are reachable and elecrified sound is quite respectable.

There are some complaints on the web that the humbucker is subdued. On the back of the body there is an opening (plastic box cover) with markings that look like for battery (i.e. active pickup) - but I haven't seen any connectors. Haven't opened it up to see what's in there, but haven't had a problem with sound level at all.

The combination of HSS pickups really provides quite an excellent range of options for voicing out of this. The pickups are very versatile in the sounds you can get out of them. This is a great bargain product, I'm happy with the high quality of all elements and the playability of the instrument. It's got the ability to sound like just about any other electric, that is a great feature.

This is a nice guitar and I'd recommend it if it appeals to your style.

(More customer reviews)I bought my Godin Exit 22 as my "return" instrument after taking up guitar again after a twenty-something year break.Here's what I can tell you: This is a great guitar, made even better by a very reasonable price.As it came off the rack, action was set a bit high and intonation was a little off, but after having it set up by my local tech, all is well.Been playing it for hours every day for almost two years now - mostly blues and rock & roll - and feel like I am finally growing into it.24 3/4 scale makes for easy, slinky bends - so more of a Gibson touch to this guitar.

Sound is wonderful through my Roland modeling amp, with solid, clear, clean tones from the single coil bridge and middle pups and as much nasty growl as one wants through the bridge humbucker.(I tend to play with the bass on the low end, but there is plenty of bottom-end available if that lights you up.)

Easy and comfortable reach of the upper frets is enhanced by some thoughtful sculpting around the neck pocket.You run into some smooth curves rather than a vertical wall a la Fender.

I could go on and on.Most important is that this is a solid guitar at a very, very reasonable price with plenty of room to grow.Oh, and the satin maple neck has gotten faster, while the mahogany body has gotten prettier with age and playing, so an added plus...

(More customer reviews)This guitar was amazing right out of the box.I was leery of buying a guitar on-line, sight-unseen primarily because I knew I would have to deal with setting it up myself.My first surprise was the guitar was nearly in tune already! I fine-tuned it and checked the intonation of each string at the 12th fret using an electronic tuner.Every string was perfect.The action and neck relief were already set just to my liking (there's plenty of differnce in personal preference on this point, but it was clear that the person who made the adjustments cared about getting it right).In short, the guitar came out of the box ready to play.
Pictures of this guitar do not do it justice.My cognac burst model is absolutely beautiful.Its lines and proportions speak elegance and many small details put it in a class with much more expensive guitars.The satin finish gives the guitar a very rich woody feel.The wild cherry of the body is boldly grained and the grain is enhanced with a subtle undercoat of dark pore-filler.The grain is bookmatched (identical on either side of the center line) on front, back and sides.The headstock shape is reminiscent of classic Gibsons but much narrower again adding to the elegance.The use of a 17 degree headstock angle (also reminiscent of classic Gibsons) provides for a strong break angle at the nut while contributing to the guitar's dramatic profile.The headstock's high-gloss black face is off-set by a narrow band of cream around the edge and a tortise-shell truss rod cover matching the pick guard.The neck is bolted on (a technique pioneered in high-end Taylor guitars) and "floats" where it meets the body allowing the top full freedom to vibrate.And the sound?Amazing!I have had the guitar for a month now and I can not get enough of playing it.I had thought I would use it for a few swing-type number I play with my band, but I am using it for everything.The tone is full and balanced and, as other reviews have said, "woody."The volume is amazing from such a compact box (only 3 inches deep). The projection and sustain are incredible, strongly developed upper partials add to the resonance, and the guitar is a canon when miked at the lower f-hole.I could go on, buy to keep it short I'll say this guitar is worth far, far more than I paid for it.I don't know how Godin did it but they've created a work of art that anyone can afford.Amazing!BTW this guitar fits perfectly in the Musicians Gear Deluxe Hardshell Dreadnaught case and it looks great in the tweed version which I bought.

Godin LGXT Solid Body 3-Voice Electric Guitar (Black Pearl) Review

(More customer reviews)I got my LGX-SA about 4 years ago and it has been an awesome guitar. The best part about it is people seeing it and going: "what is that?" They play it and go: "wow, how come i've never heard of this brand?" The guitar looks beautiful and plays great. It plays way different than a Gibson or Fender. I would relate it to a PRS or Parker. Some say its a little harder to play than a Gibson, but once you get use to it, it becomes very comfortable. The acoustic pic up sounds pretty good. I wouldnt say its the best pic up out there, but its nice to have on the guitar and is highly adjustable. You can get a pretty good sound out of it depending on what amp you are using.

My guitar has the custom seymour duncans on them. You can get a really nice clean sound out of them, but if you want a heavier sound you can get pretty strong EMG type sound as well. Very versatile pick ups.

The only thing I dont like about this guitar is the weight. Its pretty heavy and if you dont have a little muscle on your shoulder you may get tired after a while.

I have never used the synth on this guitar. I didnt buy it for the synth, I bought it for the overall quality and beauty. I will however try it out once I can afford the stupid Roland thing that costs an arm and a leg.

Godin Radiator Chambered Electric Guitar (Black Onyx) Review

(More customer reviews)I own this guitar, in blue w/pearl front. The whole front of these guitars are "pickguards", as they are chambered. Basically. hollow under the front. The pickup's are quite unique. This guitar has it's own "coolness factor". It's hard to describe the sound of this beauty, but I find myself playing it more often than not. I own an assortment of guitars, from projects, to some nice"art". I hang my art on the walls, and some are truely prettier than a picture. Back to the Radiator, with the long fret length, good not too thin, thin neck, hardtail bridge and easy access to the upper register, this guitar rocks. Again, a funky sound with the chambered body, but with the mixable pickup sounds, this thing will keep you playing and coming up with some pretty signiture sounds. Truthfully, the look got me to check this guitar out, once I plugged it in though, well......Did I Say I Own It And Love It!
