Gibson Zakk Wylde Les Paul Electric Guitar, Black/White Bullseye Review

Only reason for the 4-star rating is the price. Otherwise, this is a loud graphic on a really nice Les Paul. When you can get LP Standards for over a Grand less, you really need to make a statement (and a paycheck)to want to pay the extra dime for this premium edition.Though I haven't tried the Epiphone version yet, they are selling for about 1/7 the price. You can always pay a few bucks to upgrade the copy too!

Product Description:
A quick listen to any of Zakk Wylde's seminal playing, from Ozzy Osbourne's "No More Tears" to Black Label Society's "Bleed For Me", tells you instantly that this guitarist goes at it rough and ready, and takes no prisoners. The Zakk Wylde Les Paul BFG embodies the mammoth tone and over-the-top rock attitude of its name sake, and offers all the equipment necessary to undertake your own scorched-earth attack on your local music scene: from its rough-hewn bookmatched maple top, to its rounded '50s-spec neck with ebony fingerboard, to its sizzling EMG 81 and 85 humbucking pickups — all approved by the Wylde man himself — the Zakk Wylde Les Paul BFG is primed to deliver the message, in a big way. And with two Zakk-certified looks to choose from, a bullseye graphic or buzzsaw graphic over a satin-natural nitro finish, there will be no mistaking that you have come for business.

Starcaster 284001112 Electric Guitar Pack (Black) Review

Superb guitar for the money, comparable to my American and MIM Strats. Made for Fender in Indonesia. In positions 2 and 4 the tone is awesome, fantastic traditional Fender vintage quack.Right out of the box, it needed nothing, not even a setup or intonation correction. In fact it was almost in tune.Tuners hold very well.Frets were dressed and action low to moderate and felt very vintage with slim fast neck.Very warm tone and suitable for Blues and Smooth Jazz. Headstock 70s larger and creates better sustain. Been playing over 40 years and was shocked at its quality, tone and playability for the small money.Definitely a keeper. Initially bought it as a gift for my nephew but wound up keeping it for myself, as it was a really terrific guitar when played in a tube amp (Fender 65 Champ).A little goldmine. It is now my main lead guitar among 5 Strats and 3 Teles. Don't know how Fender did it, but this one was so good, I bought a second one, and it too was comparable. So don't waste big money chasing guitars while this one is available.Buy it quick before everyone catches on to it.Who knows, maybe one day it will be a collector item.No risk and low investment.GO FOR IT.

Golden Gate S-309 T Style Guitar Body (White, Single Cutaway, Single Coil) Review

Golden Gate S-309 T Style Guitar Body
Average Reviews:

The Neck pocket and pickup routs are just as accurate as any Fender or Warmoth body I have seen... actually better than some Fender routs. ANY stock Fender neck or accurate clone will fit with no modifications. There are no routs for the bridge, which is a good thing if you want to customize your own axe... and you know how. If you do not have the tools or know-how, you will need some help.

The paint job is plain and needs work if you want a fine finish. If you want a "relic" finish, this is a good start. A few minutes with a sander will render this just as worn as the expensive relics that Fender overcharges for.

If you want a really professional guitar, you will have to invest in a good neck, because the tolerances for a great playing guitar are super tight on good necks.... bodies are more forgiving. Plus, ALL the hardware that goes on the body of these types guitars is adjustable, so minor discrepancies in body-routing tolerances are no biggie.

What I LOVE about this body is that it shows just how cheap Fender guitars really are. Think about it. All the Fender electrics are basically two hunks of lumber, bolted together. By saving money for where it counts ( neck, hardware, pickups,) you can build a super-sweet honey-axe on the cheap.

For decades I have been shouting to everyone that you don't need to spend a fortune for a bolt-neck guitar, especially for the body, which is just a hunk of wood routed by CNC machines. There is no craftsmanship involved; no skilled labor, no reason why solid guitar bodies should be so expensive. This body is ONE TENTH the cost of many aftermarket clones and every bit as good, especially if you want to do some of the drilling, routing, painting stuff yourself.

If you do not want to do that work or have any doubts about your ability, get a totally pre-routed body with an expensive finish. But if you want to bolt together your own axe, exactly as you want it, this is as good as you need for a great price.

Fender is grossly overpriced. Warmoth even more exorbitant. This body needs some work, but is perfectly serviceable.

It's like the Emperor's New Clothes. Apparently nobody is willing to admit they are being ripped off by Fender and all its cloners. The "little boy" in me is shouting, "LOOK, those companies are NAKED!"

This guitar body is "telling" us we have all been scammed for overpriced lumber with some holes in it. I got one of these and let my daughter draw all over it with a black magic marker, then I clear-coated it with a three dollar can of lacquer. Ten minutes with some automotive buffing compound and it looks FABULOUS!

A good neck, (From Musikraft) and good parts from other sources finished the guitar. It is every bit as good as ANY guitar I have EVER played in five decades.

Bottom line... THIS is a fair price for a reasonable body. You need to know a little about assembling, adjusting and finishing to make it into a pretty guitar. But if you want to have fun learning, this is the right price. And if you already know what many others know, ( that Fender and Warmoth overcharge for lumber-with-holes) then this is a sweet start on a great cheap guitar.

Washburn Festival Series Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar Review

Washburn Festival Series Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar

I purchased this guitar for under $450.00, which I consider a fair price. The price at Amazon now fluctuates from $348.19 - $799.99.

The guitar comes set up very nicely for playing; intonation is correct, the string action is close to the frets, very nice tone, etc. The guitar's electronics (for amplification), while not outstanding, are more than adequate; they produce a nice, natural sound.

A few things that I don't think should be an issue with a guitar with a "List Price" of $1,099.90:

~ I had to get inside the guitar (by removing the electronics) to vacuum out wood debris (you could hear it rattling around inside).

~ The wood was rough in the slots of the sound-hole cut-outs; I had to sand inside of them - this is DEFINITELY something that should have been done at the factory.

~ The wood is very thin between the sound-hole slots; I would have liked to have seen some sort of internal reinforcement there.

~ This guitar has gold-colored Grover tuners (which work very nicely), but it has a silver-colored instrument cable jack. This isn't a big deal, but would it have really cost them that much more to make the jack gold-colored also?

~ The built-in tuner is OK, but not as accurate as I like. When making minor adjustments to the tuning, you can hear slight changes in the pitch before the built-in tuner picks them up. I usually end up using my Korg AW2G Clip-on Chromatic Guitar Tuner, which isn't a big deal; I use that tuner with every other guitar I'm playing anyway.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase, but would have been happier if a little more finishing effort was put forth at the factory...

Dean Baby ML 7/8 Size Solid Body Electric Guitar Powder Black Review

Dean Baby ML 7/8 Size Solid Body Electric Guitar Powder Black

The Dean Baby ML electric Guitar is inexpensive and easy to play. By its looks and sound you can tell its designed for Metal. I am a intermediate player and personally have purchased 2 of these guitars from other vendors and 2 from amazon.com. My decision to purchase from amazon was because of their excellent customer service and return policy.
However Dean's quality control is lacking, or maybe just lacking quality control. In either case I had to search through 4 of this model just to find one that was semi perfect, or at least as acceptable as can be expected. In the end I am very happy with the the sound, and the overall purchase.

I teach guitar and ordered one of these for one of my students. I had a hard time parting with it. Great size, nice cutaway, good electronics, and a tuner. What more can you ask for except it's made by Takamine with it's exceptional quality and sound. It's difficult to find these because they sell out too quickly and the price has been going up. I just can't find the deal I first got for $379 with hard shell case and free ship. My student just loves this guitar and won't part with it. You can't usually go wrong with a Takamine.

ESP LTD AX50 Electric Guitar (Black) Review

ESP LTD AX50 Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

I usually play BC Rich or Jackson, but after seeing this guitar in a pawn shop for a reasonable price, I could not resist it. Let me say this here and now, the action on this guitar is pure perfection. From the 1st fret to the 25th you can do it all. Those really hard solos that go down to the 23rd and 24th frets are so much easier now that I have been playing this.

The strings are strung through the back of the body and run over a solid bridge. This is the first guitar I've had like this, but these 'rear loaders' make the guitar feel very stable and sturdy. There are no locking nuts on the top neck nut, but this guitar stays in tune without any locking at all.

The 12th fret is marked 'AX50' in a little rectangle, the rest of the inlays are standard dots.

I would recommend this guitar to anybody, from a beginner to a pro, this axe is THE BOMB!
