(More customer reviews)I've been itching for the chance to review my guitar ever since I got it.Now that the honeymoon is over it's time.

Mine is in sunburst finish.It has the maple sides and back as opposed to the modern mahogany.Mine was made in 2000.The only modification I've made to mine are that I installed two Seymour Duncan Antiquity P-9o pickups, made a compensated ebony saddle, and replaced the Gibson tuners with something a little more fitting to my tastes.Which was the first era Kluson style tuners instead of the modern ones that use the ferruls and large holes.

Anyhow, I've been playing guitar for over 17 years and have owned ONLY archtops.Many, many of them.I was a Gretsch man most of that time with passing fancies in just about every brand.I always wanted a Gibson archtop because they always stuck out in my mind as something very special.They kept their prices high enough to keep the rif-raf away from them and I love that.Well, for the most part.

I can't say enough good about this guitar.It's a little smaller than I'd like, but that's what the L-5 and Super 400 are for.It sounds absolutely heavenly to me.I play CLEAN.All tube...all the time.When I'm not plugged in it's more than loud enough to play in the car, lying in bed, or out by the campfire.It's acoustically valid and that's my primary concern.

The fit and finish are just fine and it leaves nothing to be desired.The flamed maple is darn pretty and the spruce top really shows nice wide grain.

Once I got this guitar my vintage collectors pieces took a back seat.That's how nice these guitars are.I would buy another one in a heartbeat, sight-unseen.I would not be worried.I played several ES-175s before buying this guitar and they can't hold a candle to it.They felt heavy and stiff to me.Not life at all.

I play mostly finger style country & western, jazz, blues, and a little rockabilly.This guitar makes me play better because I practice more.I want to play all the time.And that's AFTER the honeymoon.I've had this guitar since March.

I see so many people these days with archtops, but so few high end ones.That's what I love about this guitar.For the price you pay you'd better know how to treat it right.This is not a toy.This is for grown-ups and people who have arrived at a place in their playing where they can justify the finer things.

The only things I didn't like about the guitar I promtly changed, so I love everything about it.There's not a thing wrong with it.

(More customer reviews)Superb guitar for the money, comparable to my American and MIM Strats. Made for Fender in Indonesia. In positions 2 and 4 the tone is awesome, fantastic traditional Fender vintage quack.Right out of the box, it needed nothing, not even a setup or intonation correction.In fact it was almost in tune.Tuners hold very well.Frets were dressed and action low to moderate and felt very vintage with slim fast neck.Very warm tone and suitable for Blues and Smooth Jazz. Headstock 70s larger and creates better sustain. Been playing over 40 years and was shocked at its quality, tone and playability for the small money.Definitely a keeper. Initially bought it as a gift for my nephew but wound up keeping it for myself, as it was a really terrific guitar when played in a tube amp (Fender 65 Champ).A little goldmine. It is now my main lead guitar among 5 Strats and 3 Teles. Don't know how Fender did it, but this one was so good, I bought a second one, and it too was comparable.So don't waste big money chasing guitars while this one is available.Buy it quick before everyone catches on to it.Who knows, maybe one day it will be a collector item.No risk and low investment.GO FOR IT.

Dean Palamino Guitar Vintage Sunburst Review

(More customer reviews)I wanted a jazz electric with character and this guitar has that to be sure.It's got a very retro 40s look to it and the P90s (3 of them) have a great sound. In fact I chose it over the Gretsch Electromatic because I thought the DP's sound was more versatile. I feel I could play anything from classic rock, country, boogie to blues on this guitar. Now the downside. The pickguard was incorrectly manufactured and jammed on in a way that was obviously incorrect and potentially damaging to component. The pickguard required dissasembly and some hand work with small tools to make it fit properly. I did it myself only because I didnt feel like waiting a month for the thing to be returned and replaced.I do think that the price is right however, and it is a $100 or two lower than other hollowbody guitars of similar specs. Oh, one more thing--this guitar plays pretty well as an acoustic with a nice thick body, great for practice when you dont feel like connecting an amp. If you order it, look it over pretty well for manufacturing defects. But overall I like this guitar alot.

Ibanez S7320 7-String Electric Guitar w/ Case Review

(More customer reviews)When I played this guitar in the store I was amazed on how great the action was.Very easy to play fast runs.When I got it home, I was even more in love with it.The Ibanez locking tremolo is a dream. Plenty of room when your pushing down and pullin up.It rarely goes out of tune even when you break a string.The only problem with this guitar... the pickups.You can tell they're cheap right when you plug it in.I retro-fitted mine with a couple of DiMarzio Blaze pickups.Now it plays great and sounds even better.

(More customer reviews)This guitar is strikingly beautiful.And the sounds that pour out of it are just as fine - and unique.The music I play is improvisational stuff: blues, jazz, Irish and Celtic music, fingerstyle country blues... and when you're playing this Parker guitar, and sailing about on the ebony fingerboard, the treble notes seem to pour out of it.They cut through and project like sirens, but in a wonderful blend with the bass and middle-range of the guitar.The Parker P8EN sits on my leg and beneath my arm the way I've always wanted an acoustic guitar to do. I'd never found that comfort until now, and I can't stop playing the thing!

There are so many "pros" to recommend this guitar.Even its case is a work of art.Faux-suede, the smell of something "vintage" when you open it... an elegant top cloth of green satin, embroidered with "Parker Guitars" - wait till you see this thing.

The guitar stays in tune like a battle axe.Play it, pound it, thrash it, do anything short of abuse it - and it's still in tune.How do they do that?I don't know.I know my 1981 Martin won't do that, but that's a different kind of instrument.

This P8EN has the best intonation I've yet encountered on an acoustic guitar.I checked, with an electronic tuner, all over the neck - not just at the 12th fret.Play a chord, it sounds sweet every time.The Parker has a compensated bone saddle and bone nut, plus a "zero fret." The strings must pass over this zero fret, just beyond the nut, so that the open position has the super-low action of a fretted position... if that makes sense.And the zero fret gives you oodles of extra sustain.

I think it's important that potential buyers don't take the impression that the Parker is a "stage guitar," because of the built-in pickups.This guitar is an acoustic playground.Since I got it a few weeks ago, I haven't touched my other guitars, haven't needed to.I sit back on the couch in acoustic bliss, no amp, just me and this medieval-looking axe.

But I did plug into an amp just to hear what the fuss was all about.Let me fuss now.The two (yep, two) built-in pickups - one at the base of the neck, the other hidden beneath the saddle - give you very nearly the same sound, amplified, that you get acoustically.It doesn't sound amplified, the way most acoustics with pickups sound.It doesn't have that "tin" or metallic edge that so often ruins acoustic tones when played through built-in pickups.I'd never heard an "electrified" acoustic that gave the sound of a good old mic-to-sound-hole acoustic guitar.They always sounded fake.But the Fishman combo in this Parker guitar has changed my mind.It can be done.It can be done amazingly well.I've been playing thirty years, and if my back were turned, I wouldn't know this guitar was relying on built-in electronics, and not being played straight through a mic.Parker's Fishman system is that good.

The neck of this guitar blows me away, too.It's slim, but not too slim, it's fast, it's absolutely straight, the 19 nickel frets are just the right size - it's as if everything about the P8EN is unique in a very fine way.Its' different, even a bit odd; but I love it, love it, love it.It's one of those rare guitars I know I'll never sell.And if I were to lose it somehow, I'd buy another one really fast.

I honestly have nothing to gripe about with this instrument.I know this threatens to make my review sound like a commercial, but I really like it this much.Okay, I probably would prefer sealed tuners.These gold Grovers are the old-ish open-back "kluson" tuners, which many players prefer, but I'm not one of them.They work fine, but I'd rather not see the gears.But the gold keys are too pretty to get rid of!That's my gripe.

This is one excellent guitar.Get one, fall in love.
