You need a professional help to get rid of fret buzz.. I was expecting that it was made perfectly, but it wasn't... tremolo bar and booklet manual is missing too. The good thing is, it sounds great.

Having owned them all at one time or other, in my 47 years of guitar playing, the American Stratocaster is THE best guitar on the planet for the money. It is lighter than a Gibson Les Paul which is easier on the shoulder after those long sets. It's classic design / looks are timeless. Out of the box it has it's own distinct Fender sound as well. I have an ART 2000 which I 'filter' this guitar through and my sounds are limitless. I notice that another reviewer says to 'save money and get the MIM / made in mexico.' I totally disagree. Believe me, you get what you pay for in overall quality. Buy the American made Stratocaster. I have several guitars which I use. This Strat is the most fun to play and it will make you want to play even more.

Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar, Lake Placid Blue Maple Fingerboard Review

In an earlier life, I was a rockabilly bass player--both upright and electric bass-- but never owned an electric six-string.Played acoustical six- and 12-string back in the folk music days of the 1960's.I saw this Strat on the Amazon site and the Lake Placid Blue paint job caught my attention. Since one of my favorite albums is Tony Joe White's "Lake Placid Blues" I thought this must be a sign from God.I clicked it into the cart and the rest is history. Now I'm an aging Swamp Rocker!

Out of the box this axe plays well and the sound is truly Stratocaster.Even my wife (a classical guitar junkie) even recognized the penetrating Strat sound. With a $500 price tag this little Fender is hard to beat. The gig bag is more than adequate protection unless you are planning on opening for the Stones at Radio City Music Hall and need to ship it to New York. :>)

Since my experience has been all acoustical, the Strat will take some 'getting used to' but I don't see that as a major problem and it certainly isn't the guitar's fault.

Anyway, I don't have any reservations about recommending this Fender.

So put one in your shopping cart and I'll see ya at Radio City Music Hall. We'll teach the Rolling Stones a thing or two!

15 Electric Guitar Plans for the Guitar Maker / Builder / Luthier Review

15 Electric Guitar Plans for the Guitar Maker / Builder / Luthier

I recieved my plans today from this company, not all of the plans have wiring diagrams on them BUT for the ones that don't you can find the proper diagram on the ones that do. The sets have all the information you would need to build the guitar IF you know what you're doing and have the proper tools for the job (there are specialized tools for the trade). I was initially looking for just a set of plans for a firebired but at almost $13 for one plan this $120 something (when tax is included) for 15 is a bargain and I would highly recommend.

Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar, Brown Sunburst Maple Fingerboard Review

Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar, Brown Sunburst Maple Fingerboard

(More customer reviews)
I've owned a lot of guitars through the past 25 years, including a couple of American Standard Fender Strats, a couple of Japanese-made Fender Strats, andeven a strat-style Ibanez guitar (which I still own). Despite the expense of the American Standards, they never seemed to sound as good or play as easily as the hype would suggest. The Japanese ones sounded good---especially the 50s and 60s replicas---but the small frets made it hard to keep chords fretted across all six strings and could sometimes make soloing a tad more haphazzard. Despite not having had a Fender in my collection for the past ten years, I got the itch to get another while deployed in Afghanistan. The 499 cost seemed good-- way less than the American standard and at a price point that wouldn't make my wife strangle me in anger on my return home. I unpacked this as soon as I got home and let me tell you that it is simply the best playing and sounding guitar I have ever owned, bar none---better even than the Les Paul Ive owned for 20 years and my very nice Ibanez that I've owned for 15 years. The neck and string action are as perfect as I have ever played. The pickups seem incredibly nuanced, but will get slight electrical noise from lighting or TVs if in the single coil positions. Quality of construction, paint, and overall appearance are every bit as good as the American Standards. I really can't put my finger on what specifically makes this guitar so good---awesome construction, medium jumbo frets, that "strat tone" done right???---but take my word for it, this guitar is incredible. After 30 years of playing I am a good enough guitarist to know quality and playability from glam crap. Don't spend 1000+ bucks when you don't have to!!! This guitar will stay with me for the rest of my life (or until it isn't cool for an old fart to be playing Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Dire Straits, and Hendrix songs anymore.)

Fender Starcaster® Electric Guitar/Amp Package - FlameTop Finish Review

Fender Starcaster® Electric Guitar/Amp Package - FlameTop Finish
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have this guitar pack and I have to say that the number of negative comments is amazing.I am not sure what people expect for $200.00.No! This is not a $1200.00 dollar American made strat, nor is the $500.00 Mexican made strat. It's a low cost made in China strat.

Regardless of where it was made, I found the workmanship to be very acceptable. The guitar is beautiful and the rosewood fretboard is very nice. The whole guitar has a solid feel.My only real complaint is that the center pickup has an unusually low level output. But there is no way I would return this guitar just because of a single pickup. At worst case I'd just have Fender send a replacement. And Yes! As other reviews have noted, the amp hums a little (especially at higher volumes). But, this has more to with the single coil pickups used in the guitar. If you want humbucker pickups, you're going to pay more. Also the amp is just a small 10W practice amp.It works fine for lower volume practicing.I have fallen in love with mine and play it quietly in the evenings to relax from the world.

I have a family and very little extra money.I am greatful that Fender has provided these low cost kits.It gives me the opportunity to own and relax with a Fender, something that would be questionable with a better (read more expensive) guitar. And, if the kids develop an interest, I won't cry too much if they add a few scratches to it.

Folks need to keep things in perspective. This is a low cost entry level guitar.Understanding those limitations, I highly recommend this kit to anyone just starting out.
