(More customer reviews)This guitar provides for some of the nicest intonation I have ever had in a guitar I have owned. The individual notes ping with such clarity and the action from frets 9-15 is the best I have ever seen in any guitar.

The only drawback is the saddle. The string have too much space between the bridge and the the tremolo housing and if you bend just a little too hard the string pops off the saddle. Go for a housing and it fixes this problem. Its both a visually appealing guitar and an amazing comfortable guitar to play if you want to shred and play a little blues/jazz/and of course Dinosaur Jr.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these a couple months ago from a nearby shop. It has a great sound, is fairly lightweight, the neck is thin and the fretboard is nice and smooth. The tremolo is a bit tough to get right, but once in tune it stays in tune. I was extremely surprised at how long my guitar stays in tune, especially with the whammy and bends. Probably helps if the strings are of good quality. Mine came with 4 springs. All around, I think it's worth the price, even though I got a great deal on mine. If you want more features/pickups then you'll have to shell out for the more expensive models; but I like it simple :)

One thing to be aware of is the strap. Get a good one. Depending on the size of the strap , the strap adjustment lock will need to be in a position that is comfortable near the left arm, or high enough so it won't scratch the back of the guitar near the input jack (which is just above the strap hook).

Last but not least, get the Jackson hardshell case (or any other hardshell case that claims to fit this, though the Jackson one is guaranteed to fit). It's worth it. Took me sometime to break down and buy it, but I think it's better to spend more on a good case than having to worry about damaging my guitar.

(More customer reviews)In an earlier life, I was a rockabilly bass player--both upright and electric bass-- but never owned an electric six-string.Played acoustical six- and 12-string back in the folk music days of the 1960's.I saw this Strat on the Amazon site and the Lake Placid Blue paint job caught my attention. Since one of my favorite albums is Tony Joe White's "Lake Placid Blues" I thought this must be a sign from God.I clicked it into the cart and the rest is history.Now I'm an aging Swamp Rocker!

Out of the box this axe plays well and the sound is truly Stratocaster.Even my wife (a classical guitar junkie) even recognized the penetrating Strat sound.With a $500 price tag this little Fender is hard to beat.The gig bag is more than adequate protection unless you are planning on opening for the Stones at Radio City Music Hall and need to ship it to New York. :>)

Since my experience has been all acoustical, the Strat will take some 'getting used to' but I don't see that as a major problem and it certainly isn't the guitar's fault.

Anyway, I don't have any reservations about recommending this Fender.

(More customer reviews)The guitar arrived within the promised time frame. Out of the box the action was good and needed no adjustment at all. The neck and fretboard are fast and very comfortable to hold. The sound is good, without any hum.

The guitar is described as having an interchangeable pickup system but only one pickup, the Dual-blade Humbucker, is supplied. There is no 2nd pickup, called the Rock Treble, for sale anywhere.

It has a light body but a heavy neck so it tends to point to the floor when not held up.

(More customer reviews)This is NOT a guitar suitable for recording music, but is a REALLY fun crowd/attention drawing instrument and plays well enough to do very small venue performances or mini concerts for your friends. I would recommend a thicker strap (like a bass strap or a 3" strap) b/c this guitar is much heavier than a standard electric guitar (due to the clear acrylic body). At this price point (i think i paid 200 bucks) it's a great value and shipped quick.
