The Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II is an excellent value in that of a jazz guitar. It is a hollowbody instrument that has been manufactured for many years, which tells me that it's reputation for quality has stood the test of time. The quality of the sound that is produced by the instrument makes it a fine choice for someone who is beginning to study jazz and who wants a good, entry-level jazz guitar, for not alot of money.I compared the level of output of the Joe Pass with that of an Epiphone Dot, which is a semi-hollowbody jazz-like instrument, and in my opinion, the output level of the Joe Pass is superior. The Joe Pass also impressed me favorably because to my ears it produces deeper bass than the Dot.The Joe Pass is also a very impressive guitar to behold. It is a handsome instrument, either as in the vintage sunburst finish, or as in the natural (blond) finish. All things considered, you will not go wrong with this guitar.
