I bought this guitar simply because 1) I'm short and need a small guitar and 2) my bedroom is purple and I don't like to bring my other guitars into the bedroom because the colors clash and it bugs me so I got a nice purple girly guitar that I can jam on in my PJs. All is well and I am very satisfied, I wish I could give a 3.5 star rating, but I wouldn't go as far as 4 because that to me would be a top notch guitar rating.

If you're a beginner and want a pretty sturdy instrument or are vain like me and want a pretty color this guitar won't disappoint and with a few customizations it can be pretty boss.

(More customer reviews)I have had this guitar for about two months now. My first Ovation! I love the sound. It is clear, bright and when amplified totally blows away my Washburn. The thin neck took a bit of getting used to but now I am quite comfortable.
As for the "round back" complaint (guitar slips while seated), I hardly pay attention. I don't use a strap and now I naturally just slipe the guitar back into position while I play. I don't even notice anymore!
Great guitar. I am very satified.

A few weeks ago, I sold my Fender American Deluxe Strat. I wanted to replace it with something a little newer with a similar style. My other guitar is an Epiphone LP Standard with a gritty tone and great sustain that spends most of its time in Drop-C, so this guitar will mainly stay in standard/Drop-D tuning. My musical styles range from contemporary Christian/worship (Hillsong, Tomlin, etc.) to hardcore/metal (A7X, Atreyu, As I Lay Dying), so my guitars need to be diverse in their playstyles.

When I first got the guitar home, I noticed it was much taller than my Epi Standard. I had read online that it was heavy compared with guitars of a similar composition, but I'm used to solid-bodies, so it was actually very light despite the greater length. Reviews I've read say that it would be heavy to hold for a performance, but I disagree. If you're used to a solid body, it's very light and comfortable.

But I know that what everyone cares about is playability, so here goes. The first thing I noticed is the clean, beautiful tone that it produces even when unplugged. It's not a replacement for an acoustic by any means, but it's definitely worthy of being played unplugged for practice. Amped with clean settings, it has a very warm tone and produces a stronger output than either my Epi or the Fender with Noiseless pickups.

As for distorted/metal settings, it still has a strong, thick tone, thanks largely to the dual humbuckers which I find to be entirely adequate for all playstyles. It doesn't have great resonance and pinch harmonics are very finicky (read: difficult) with it, but it has good sustain for a semi-hollow body, and is definitely playable for a heavier style of music.

Overall, I have no complaints about this guitar. The strap attaches on the back of the body, which I'm not used to, but is comfortable after a minute or two of adjusting. For the money, this guitar absolutely shines, and for lefties, it's one of the few well-priced, well-equipped machines out there.

The only adjustment I had to make was the bridge to lower the action a little. The sound quality is very good and the built in tuner is great as well. Great value and the fact that it is left handed makes it worth more to me.

I'm glad that Amazon has a relatively user-friendly return policy, but it would have been nice to have had the option of replacing the wrong item with the correct one. As a long-time Amazon prime member, this is one of the few occasions in which I have been dissapointed in the results of my shopping experience.

The guitar sounds great distorted and has a decent clean sound. For the price this is a fantastic instrument. Its very sturdy and durable. I've owned this guitar for 5 years and it still plays just like the day I bought it. I've upgraded to a Gibson SG since purchasing this guitar but it is still one of the best deals around for a guitarist who wants to play more rock or metal.
